-A MOTH STORY- Last weekend, I tripped up to an uncle's cottage with family. It had been a long time - maybe a year - since I'd been there. (I've never really been much of a cottage-goer) Some people went out on the lake - swimming, boating, etc. I spent most of the day sitting in a lawn chair not doing much. I met some new people, and also my brother's new puppy. I remember the puppy's name, but not the people. That trip, together with this prompt made me realize: I don't see moths anymore. They must be around - I used to see them when I was younger. Flying around gardens, clinging to window screens at night... I remember chasing white cabbage moths around in the backyard. I don't spend time in gardens these days though. I don't look out the windows as often as I should. I tell myself "that's not that bad; I go for walks sometimes". But I don't see moths walking along city streets at noon. Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention to insects?
