Crate inset_embedder

Crate inset_embedder

Source
Expand description

Flutter’s dart:ui: host traits (Platform, View) and value types (Offset, Color, Canvas, Paint, Shadow).

The framework depends on this crate. This crate does not depend on the framework. Hosts implement Platform and View, and invoke EmbedderClient on the client the start closure returns. They do not name App.

Structs§

AppExitReply
The answer to one request to exit, which the host made through EmbedderClient::request_app_exit: Flutter’s reply to System.requestAppExit. It is answered once; dropped unanswered, it answers AppExitResponse::Exit, since an application that lets go of the question has nothing to keep.
ApplicationSwitcherDescription

ContainerLayer
flow’s ContainerLayer and the containers derived from it: children in paint order, the bottom-most first, under one effect.
CopyOptions
How a copy is to be treated. Each option names what it is for, and a host whose system lacks it leaves it out, but for the expiry, which a host does itself where the system cannot.
CopyRequest
Where the user’s copy or cut is written: the clipboard, as the platform lets the user’s own copy write it.
Cue
One subtitle or caption to show: Media3’s Cue.

Vector3
A three-dimensional vector.
VideoLayer
A video, drawn into rect in its container’s coordinates: Chromium’s cc::VideoLayer over its frame provider. The layer holds the reader, never a frame: whoever draws the scene asks the reader then for the frame of the moment the picture reaches the screen, so a frame is held only while it is on screen.

ColorFilter
A description of a color filter to apply when drawing a shape or compositing a layer with a particular Paint. A color filter is a function that takes two colors, and outputs one color. When applied during compositing, it is independently applied to each pixel of the layer being drawn before the entire layer is merged with the destination.

Constants§

K_TEXT_HEIGHT_NONE
A TextStyle.height value that indicates the text span should take the height defined by the font, which may not be exactly the height of fontSize.
URI_LIST
The type a pasted file is read in: its file: URL, one line per file (RFC 2483), as every system carries a file on its clipboard as a reference.

Traits§

AppExit
The application quitting itself: the System.exitApplication message of Flutter’s SystemChannels.platform, for a required exit. A cancelable exit never reaches the host: the framework asks its own listeners first (ServicesBinding::exit_application), and quits here once they agree.
AttachedMenu
A tray icon’s menu the system opens by itself.
CameraDevice
A camera the app opened, controlled on the app’s main thread: Camera2’s CameraDevice. A session started on it runs on after it is dropped.
Cameras
The system’s cameras, or None from Platform::cameras where it has none.
CanvasText
Paragraph drawing on a Canvas (Dart’s Canvas.drawParagraph).
CaptionSettings
The user’s system-wide caption settings: Apple’s MACaptionAppearance, Android’s CaptioningManager, Windows’ ClosedCaptionProperties.
CaptureSession
A camera running for the app, controlled on the app’s main thread. Dropped, it stops for the app: its preview leaves the layer it showed on, and its reader reads nothing more.
Clipboard
The system clipboard. Every call answers later, as a host may have to ask its user, or another process, first.
CompositionLayer
One layer of the compositor’s tree. Every method may be called from any thread.
Compositor
The host’s compositor, as an app reaches it.
DataTransferItem
One item on the clipboard, as it was when the clipboard was listed, or of a drag (DragReport): the web’s DataTransferItem, the item its clipboard events and its drag and drop both hand over.
Dispatcher
The host’s threads as any thread reaches them: the two things the framework asks of them. gpui’s PlatformDispatcher. Flutter’s embedder API has the first as post_task_callback, with its target time, and keeps the second — the engine’s own worker threads — to itself.
DockMenu
The menu of the app’s Dock icon: macOS’s.
EmbedderClient
Complete frames and typed view lifecycle notifications.
FileDialogs
The system’s file dialogs. parent is the view whose window a dialog belongs to, which the system shows it on, as a sheet where it has them (macOS); without one it stands alone.
FileHandle
A picked file the system gives no path for, read and written at any offset.
FileSink
Where a promised file’s bytes go, in order: the host’s, which writes them into the file where the receiver chose, as NSFilePromiseProvider writes at the receiver’s URL.
FileStream
A picked file that can only be read through, once, start to end.
FileWriter
Writing to a picked file.
FolderHandle
A picked folder the system gives no path for: what is in it, opened by name, and, when the pick is writable, files and folders made in it. What it opens is writable when it is.
FontManager
FontManager is the platform’s font lookup, in the shape of Skia’s SkFontMgr.
FontSource
FontSource locates fonts that are not already registered.
Haptics
Flutter’s HapticFeedback.
HostWindow
The window around a view the host puts on screen in a window the app may manage.
ImageCodec
One encoded image, opened and ready to give up its frames. Flutter dart:ui Codec.
MediaPlayer
One player, controlled on the app’s main thread. Dropped, it stops, and its picture goes nowhere: it leaves the layer it showed on, and its reader reads nothing more.
MenuAtIcon
A tray icon’s menu the app opens.
MenuBar
The app’s menu bar: macOS’s. Where the system has none, the platform answers None and the app draws its own.
NotificationPermission
The user’s permission to notify, as the system keeps it for the app and asks for it.
NotificationReplies
Typed replies, where the system takes them.
NotificationScheduling
Delivery at a later time, which the system holds whether or not the app runs.
Notifications
The system’s notifications.
Opener
The system’s way to open links and files in other apps.
Platform
The long-lived host object held by the application.
Players
The system’s players, or None from Platform::players where it has none.
PopupMenus
A menu the system opens at a point in a view, answered with the item chosen.
Restoration
Flutter’s restoration channel: state kept across relaunches.
Screens
The screens the app’s views are on: what drawing on each needs, as Flutter’s PlatformDispatcher.displays lists them, and where each is, for an app that places a window against something on them, such as an edge or its own icon, which Flutter’s Display has no place for. Positions are in the coordinates of HostWindow::frame: logical points from the top-left corner of the main screen, y growing down.
SystemChrome
Flutter’s SystemChrome: the system UI around the app.
SystemContextMenu
Flutter’s SystemContextMenu: the system’s own menu over a text selection.
TextInputHost
The host side of Flutter’s text input connection for one view.
TextServices
The text services a selection toolbar offers: Flutter’s LookUp, SearchWeb and Share platform-channel calls.
TrayIcon
An icon in the system’s tray, removed when dropped. What it offers is what its system allows; its conventions, such as a menu opened on a right click, are the app’s or the framework’s.
TrayIcons
The app’s icons in the system’s tray: macOS’s status items, Windows’ notification area, Linux’s StatusNotifierItems.
VideoFrame
One picture of a video as the system hands it out, as WebCodecs’ VideoFrame. It holds its slot in the decoder’s pool until it, and every texture made of it, are dropped.
VideoFrameReader
The pictures of the one source a reader is given to, read from any thread as they are drawn. It takes one source at a time, as Android’s ImageReader takes one producer: given to a second while the first still feeds it, it is refused, and the second sends its frames nowhere. A reader keeps no frame for later: one not read before the next arrives is dropped.
VideoFrameReaders
The system’s frame readers, or None from Platform::video_frame_readers where it hands out no frames.
View
A stable handle to one host-provided view.
ViewEmbedder
What the app uses to embed views of its own, as Flutter’s embedder does: adding one on a layer it makes and places, giving its metrics and its being in sight, handing it input, and removing it (Platform::view_embedder).
ViewHost
What one view asks of the system, provided by whoever hosts the view: a window’s view gets its window’s. Chromium’s RenderWidgetHostView and Android’s SurfaceControlViewHost are this piece; where Flutter’s embedders take the same requests on the platform as a whole, through SystemChannels.textInput, SystemChannels.mouseCursor and PlatformDispatcher.requestViewFocusChange, here each view’s own host takes them.
VsyncObserver
What a VsyncWaiter calls at the refresh it was asked for.
VsyncWaiter
Flutter’s VsyncWaiter, for any screen.

Flutter skia::textlayout::FontCollection::setDefaultFontManager: register the faces of families, the platform’s default families, as the collection’s fallback chain, then keep source for later lookups.
slices
The scene’s slices and composition layers, in paint order: what Flutter’s embedder hands its compositor as FlutterLayers, before any slice is rendered. frame_image answers the image of the frame each video’s reader shows in this draw, None for one with nothing to show; a host without video answers None for all.
transform3
Transforms a point as a 3-vector, with no perspective division.
