# Configure Notifications

adnv can send dependency update reports to Mattermost, Matrix/Element, and email.

## Mattermost

```yaml
check:
  outputs:
    mattermost: !Mattermost
      instance_url: https://mattermost.example.com
      api_key: "your-bot-api-key"
      channel_id: "target-channel-id"
      send_empty: false
      message_template: |
        **{{ count }}** new versions in the last {{ duration }}
        {{ versions_table }}
```

Trigger with:

```shell
adnv check --last 24h --output mattermost
```

## Matrix / Element

```yaml
check:
  outputs:
    element: !Element
      homeserver_url: https://matrix.example.com
      user_id: "@bot:example.com"
      password: "bot-password"
      room_id: "!roomid:example.com"
      send_empty: false
```

The bot automatically joins the room if not already a member.

## Email (SMTP)

```yaml
check:
  outputs:
    mail: !Mail
      smtp_server: smtp.example.com
      sender: "adnv@example.com"
      sender_password: "smtp-password"
      recipients:
        - team@example.com
      subject: "Dependency Update Report"
      tls: true          # optional, defaults to true (implicit TLS)
```

Email notifications render the versions table as HTML.

## Custom message templates

All output backends support `message_template` using [Tera](https://keats.github.io/tera/) syntax.

Available variables:

| Variable | Description |
|----------|-------------|
| `{{ count }}` | Number of new versions found |
| `{{ duration }}` | Human-readable time window |
| `{{ versions_table }}` | Pre-formatted table of versions |

Default template:

```
There was {{ count }} new packages versions in the last {{ duration }}
{{ versions_table }}
```
