MotionState

Struct MotionState

Source
pub struct MotionState { /* private fields */ }
Expand description

Retained motion for one logical object, owned by a view or keyed collection.

Dropping this value cancels motion. Retain it through exit and reuse it for re-entry; replacing it with Default explicitly resets mount history. Sampling is O(1), uses no heap, and does not advance settled trajectories.

Implementations§

Source§

impl MotionState

Source

pub fn sample( &mut self, motion: Motion, now: Duration, reduced_motion: bool, ) -> Frame

Samples absolute monotonic time. Identical targets do not restart. Each property retargets independently, preserving spring velocity. Omitted layout targets retain their previous destination. Reduced motion snaps and exits. Do not mix this clock with the native frame clock on the same state.

Source§

impl MotionState

Source

pub fn frame(&mut self, motion: Motion, window: &mut Window, cx: &App) -> Frame

Samples native monotonic time and GPUI’s reduced-motion flag. Call only from Render::render or an element drawing phase: frame requests require an active view. Mutate model state and call cx.notify() from handlers. No frames are scheduled after settling or after a reduced-motion snap.

use gpui::{AnyElement, App, Window, div, prelude::*};
use gpui_ce_motion::{Motion, MotionState, Target};

fn panel(state: &mut MotionState, open: bool, window: &mut Window, cx: &App) -> AnyElement {
    let frame = state.frame(
        Motion::new(Target::default()).present(open), window, cx,
    );
    frame.render(|frame| frame.apply(div().id("panel").child("Panel")))
}
