# Test Compilation Fix Summary (2026-03-16)

## Goal
Fix test file compilation errors that prevented `cargo test --release` from running.

## Fixes Applied

### 1. codegen_auto_modules_test
- **Error**: Unresolved import `walkdir`, type inference errors
- **Fix**: Replaced `walkdir::WalkDir` with recursive `std::fs::read_dir` implementation
- **Files**: `tests/codegen_auto_modules_test.rs`
- **Result**: 4 passed, 1 ignored (test_auto_gen_creates_namespace_reexports - TODO)

### 2. str_string_hashmap_test
- **Error**: `type_to_rust_for_field` not found in `codegen::rust::types`
- **Fix**: 
  - Added `Type::Custom("str")` → `"String"` in `type_to_rust()` (src/codegen/rust/types.rs)
  - Replaced `type_to_rust_for_field` with `type_to_rust` (same behavior for struct fields)
- **Files**: `src/codegen/rust/types.rs`, `tests/str_string_hashmap_test.rs`
- **Result**: All tests pass

### 3. lib_rs_generation_test
- **Error**: `lib_rs_generator` module not found (was removed 2026-03-15)
- **Fix**:
  - Created stub module `src/lib_rs_generator.rs` with unimplemented functions
  - Added `#[ignore]` to all 6 tests with reason: "lib_rs_generator removed 2026-03-15 - see docs/MANAGER_DECISION_REVERT.md"
  - Fixed `Vec::contains(&str)` type mismatch → `exports.iter().any(|s| s == "x")`
- **Files**: `src/lib_rs_generator.rs`, `src/lib.rs`, `tests/lib_rs_generation_test.rs`
- **Result**: 0 passed, 6 ignored (all properly documented)

### 4. rust_coercion_rules_test
- **Error**: `copy_semantics` and `rust_coercion_rules` not found in `codegen::rust`
- **Fix**: Added module declarations to `src/codegen/rust/mod.rs`
- **Files**: `src/codegen/rust/mod.rs`
- **Result**: All tests pass

### 5. ownership_tracker_test
- **Error**: `ownership_tracker` not found in `codegen::rust`
- **Fix**: Added `pub mod ownership_tracker` to `src/codegen/rust/mod.rs`
- **Files**: `src/codegen/rust/mod.rs`
- **Result**: All tests pass

### 6. shader_wjsl_test
- **Error**: `shader::ast` module is private
- **Fix**: Changed import from `windjammer::shader::ast::{Type, ScalarType}` to `windjammer::shader::{Type, ScalarType}` (use public re-exports)
- **Files**: `tests/shader_wjsl_test.rs`
- **Result**: All tests pass

- `tests/str_string_hashmap_test.rs` - type_to_rust_for_field → type_to_rust
- `src/codegen/rust/types.rs` - str → String for Custom("str")

- `src/lib.rs` - added lib_rs_generator module
- `tests/lib_rs_generation_test.rs` - #[ignore], Vec::contains fix
- `src/codegen/rust/mod.rs` - copy_semantics, rust_coercion_rules, ownership_tracker
- `tests/shader_wjsl_test.rs` - import path fix
