# Multi-line Mode Fixes
## Issues Fixed
### 1. Down Arrow Problem
**Issue**: In multi-line mode, pressing down arrow would exit to results view instead of moving cursor down
**Fix**: Added condition to only switch to results on down arrow when in single-line mode
```rust
KeyCode::Down if self.results.is_some() && self.edit_mode == EditMode::SingleLine => {
self.mode = AppMode::Results;
self.table_state.select(Some(0));
},
```
### 2. Visual Gap Issue
**Issue**: Large gap appeared at the top when entering multi-line mode
**Cause**: Textarea was being rendered in the results area (chunks[1]) while the input area (chunks[0]) showed an empty placeholder
**Fix**: Render textarea directly in the input area
```rust
// Before: textarea rendered in results area with complex layout
f.render_widget(&self.textarea, textarea_chunks[0]);
// After: textarea rendered in input area
f.render_widget(&self.textarea, chunks[0]);
```
### 3. Simplified Layout
- Removed the syntax preview to keep the interface clean
- Textarea now occupies the same 3-line space as single-line input
- No more complex layout calculations for multi-line mode
## Result
Multi-line mode now feels more integrated:
- No visual gaps or jarring transitions
- Natural arrow key navigation
- Consistent positioning with single-line mode
- Clean, simple interface
