# retex-kpath
A native implementation of the parts of kpathsea that TeX engines use.
Reads `texmf.cnf` (found through `TEXMFCNF`), expands variables, braces and
`~`, honours environment variables and `VAR.progname` overrides, uses `ls-R`
databases, searches `//` subdirectories and applies the file-format suffix
rules, so that retex finds the same files as `luatex` and `kpsewhich`.
This crate is a component of [retex](https://gitlab.com/severin-lemaignan/retex),
a TeX engine written in Rust that replaces `lualatex`. See the retex README for
the project as a whole. The API serves retex and may change between versions.
