## Test Architecture
### Mock Deduplication Service
The test suite includes a complete mock implementation of the deduplication service:
```rust
pub struct EventDeduplicator {
backend: Arc<dyn StateBackend>,
ttl: std::time::Duration,
metrics: Arc<DeduplicationMetrics>,
}
```
#### Features
- **Multiple ID Strategies**: UUID, ContentHash, Custom
- **Metrics Tracking**: Total events, duplicates, unique events
- **Batch Processing**: Efficient batch deduplication
- **TTL Support**: Automatic expiration
- **Error Handling**: Graceful failure recovery
### ID Extraction Strategies
1. **UUID Strategy** (`IdExtractionStrategy::Uuid`)
- Uses event UUID directly
- Guarantees uniqueness per event instance
2. **Content Hash Strategy** (`IdExtractionStrategy::ContentHash`)
- Hashes event content (source, type, data)
- Detects semantic duplicates
3. **Custom Strategy** (`IdExtractionStrategy::Custom`)
- Uses `custom_id` from event metadata
- Falls back to UUID if not present
### Metrics
```rust
pub struct DeduplicationMetrics {
pub total_events: AtomicU64,
pub duplicates_found: AtomicU64,
pub unique_events: AtomicU64,
pub redis_errors: AtomicU64,
pub ttl_expirations: AtomicU64,
}
```
#### Available Metrics
- `duplicate_rate()` - Percentage of duplicate events
- `total_events` - Total processed
- `unique_events` - Unique events count
- `duplicates_found` - Duplicate events count
- `redis_errors` - Backend error count

## Test Patterns
### Basic Deduplication Test
```rust
#[tokio::test]
async fn test_basic_deduplication() {
let backend = Arc::new(MemoryStateBackend::new(None));
let dedup = EventDeduplicator::new(backend, Duration::from_secs(60));
let event = FeedbackEvent::new(
EventSource::User,
EventType::Feedback,
serde_json::json!({"test": "data"}),
);
// First processing - unique
let result1 = dedup.process_event(&event, IdExtractionStrategy::Uuid).await.unwrap();
assert!(result1);
// Second processing - duplicate
let result2 = dedup.process_event(&event, IdExtractionStrategy::Uuid).await.unwrap();
assert!(!result2);
}
```
### Concurrent Processing Test
```rust
#[tokio::test]
async fn test_concurrent() {
let dedup = Arc::new(EventDeduplicator::new(backend, Duration::from_secs(60)));
let event = Arc::new(create_event());
let mut handles = Vec::new();
for _ in 0..10 {
let dedup_clone = Arc::clone(&dedup);
let event_clone = Arc::clone(&event);
handles.push(tokio::spawn(async move {
dedup_clone.process_event(&event_clone, IdExtractionStrategy::Uuid).await
}));
}
let results = futures::future::join_all(handles).await;
// Verify race condition handling
}
```
### Performance Benchmark Test
```rust
#[tokio::test]
async fn test_throughput() {
let start = Instant::now();
for event in &events {
dedup.process_event(event, IdExtractionStrategy::Uuid).await.unwrap();
}
let duration = start.elapsed();
let throughput = event_count as f64 / duration.as_secs_f64();
println!("Throughput: {:.0} events/sec", throughput);
assert!(throughput > 10_000.0);
}
```
## Dependencies
The test suite requires the following dependencies (already in `Cargo.toml`):
```toml
[dev-dependencies]
tokio = { workspace = true, features = ["test-util"] }
futures = { workspace = true }
```
