Why a pointcloud could not be constructed.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

NonFinitePoint

A point has a non-finite coordinate.

Carries the index so a caller can find the offending sample rather than re-scanning the input to locate it.

ChannelLengthMismatch

A channel’s length does not match the point count.

DegenerateNormal

A normal is not finite, or is too short to carry a direction.

A zero-length normal is refused rather than normalised to an arbitrary axis: the direction is genuinely unknown, and inventing one would be indistinguishable downstream from a measured value.
