Variants (Non-exhaustive)§

This enum is marked as non-exhaustive
Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Simple(&'a [u8])

+, a one line string.

Error(&'a [u8])

-, a one line error, prefix included.

BlobError(&'a [u8])

!, RESP3’s error that may span lines.

Int(i64)

:, an integer.

$, a length prefixed string.

Null

A missing value: RESP2’s $-1 or *-1, or RESP3’s _.

The two RESP2 spellings decode to the same thing on purpose. A caller that needs to tell them apart is testing the protocol rather than the reply, and crate::Out is where that is tested.

Returned on its own rather than attached, because attaching it would mean every caller matching on a reply has to look through a wrapper. A caller that cares reads the next frame; a caller that does not can drop it, which is what RESP3 says clients may do.
