Why QueryFileInformation::perform_into did not fill the caller’s buffer.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Win32(Win32Error)

Windows refused the call, with the raw code unaltered.

Misaligned

Refused before the call, which was not made: the page of the structure the class writes says it “must be aligned on” a boundary the buffer’s address is not on. It carries no OS code, because Windows reported nothing.
