FryPanBottom

Struct FryPanBottom

Source
pub struct FryPanBottom { /* private fields */ }
Expand description

Frying Pan Bottom — a gently rounded bottom across the lookback window: prices decline, flatten near the centre, then recover above where they started.

over the last `period` closes:
  the minimum close sits in the middle third of the window (the "bowl")
  the latest close is above the first close (the rim is recovered)
signal = +1 when both hold, else 0

The frying pan is a bullish accumulation pattern: a saucer-shaped base where selling dries up, the curve flattens, and price lifts off the rim. Detecting it requires the low point to be central (a symmetric bowl, not a one-sided drop) and the close to have climbed back above the window’s opening level, confirming the breakout from the base. The output is +1.0 (pattern) or 0.0.

The first value lands after period inputs; each update scans the window in O(period).

§Example

use wickra_core::{Candle, Indicator, FryPanBottom};

let mut indicator = FryPanBottom::new(9).unwrap();
// A U-shaped base then recovery.
let closes = [100.0, 98.0, 96.0, 95.0, 96.0, 98.0, 101.0, 103.0, 105.0];
let mut last = None;
for &cl in &closes {
    let c = Candle::new(cl, cl + 0.5, cl - 0.5, cl, 1_000.0, 0).unwrap();
    last = indicator.update(c);
}
assert_eq!(last, Some(1.0));

Implementations§

Source§

impl FryPanBottom

Source

pub fn new(period: usize) -> Result<Self>

Construct a Frying Pan Bottom over period bars.

§Errors

Returns Error::InvalidPeriod if period < 5 (a bowl needs room for a central low between recovering sides).

Source

pub const fn period(&self) -> usize

Configured window period.

Source

pub const fn value(&self) -> Option<f64>

Current value if available.

impl Indicator for FryPanBottom

Source§

type Input = Candle

Type of one input data point (typically f64 for a price, or Candle / Tick).
Source§

type Output = f64

Type of one output value.
Source§

fn update(&mut self, candle: Candle) -> Option<f64>

Feed one new data point into the indicator and return the freshly computed output, or None if there is no value for this input. Read more
Source§

fn reset(&mut self)

Reset all internal state, leaving the indicator equivalent to a freshly constructed instance with the same parameters.
Source§

fn warmup_period(&self) -> usize

Number of inputs required before the first non-None output can be produced.
Source§

fn is_ready(&self) -> bool

Whether the indicator has emitted at least one value since the last reset.
Source§

fn name(&self) -> &'static str

Stable, human-readable indicator name. Used by chaining and diagnostics.
Source§

fn batch_nan_into(&mut self, inputs: &[Self::Input], out: &mut [f64])
where Self::Input: Copy, Self::Output: Into<f64>,

Run the indicator over inputs, writing one output per input into the caller-owned out buffer (NaN where update returns None). It exists for every indicator whose output converts to an f64; the batch pipelines use it for the scalar f64 -> f64 ones. Read more
Source§

fn batch_fast_into(&mut self, inputs: &[Self::Input], out: &mut [f64])
where Self::Input: Copy, Self::Output: Into<f64>,

Opt-in fast batch: like batch_nan_into, but an indicator with a vectorised kernel may reassociate its arithmetic to run it in SIMD lanes. Each value then agrees with the exact batch to within the tolerance the indicator documents (a few units in the last place), not bit for bit; warmup positions, NaN placement and the output length are identical. The kernels are deterministic: the same input produces the same bits on every platform, with or without SIMD hardware. Read more
