SchemaProved

The schemas prove Valid(old) ⊆ Valid(new). No row was read.

DataBacked

The schemas do not prove it; every live row of the type was validated against the candidate instead. True of these rows, not of the type.

The rows did not satisfy the candidate, so they were changed to: the declared steps were applied to every live row and the result validated against the candidate before anything was written.
