What Composer does with the error: an unsolvable set (SolverProblemsException) means exit code 2 from Installer::run, everything else is an exception that propagates.

Composer would carry this as a TransportException, whose code it rewrites to 100 (Application.php:502-506, Installer.php:92).

The command prints the message itself and returns a code, with no Error: prefix and nothing written: UpdateCommand’s temporary constraint refusal (1), Installer::run’s partial update without a lock (3).
