Penalty selection for the PELT algorithm.

Variants

Bic

BIC penalty: p * ln(n) where p = parameters per segment, times the estimated noise variance of each channel for the L2 cost (whose segments are costed in the data’s units squared).

Reference: Schwarz (1978). Automatically scales with data length.

Custom(f64)

User-specified penalty value (must be positive and finite), in the units of the cost: data units squared for L2.
