Which class of API failure a status code puts a response in.

The mapping is by status alone, so an endpoint answering a documented status with an undocumented body still lands in the right class.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

BadRequest

400: the request was malformed.

Authentication

401: the API key was missing, malformed or rejected.

PermissionDenied

403: the key is valid and is not allowed to do this.

NotFound

404: no such endpoint or resource.

UnprocessableEntity

422: the request parsed and failed the server’s validation.

RateLimit

429: the rate limit was exceeded. ApiError::retry_after may say how long to wait.

InternalServer

Any status at or above 500: the server failed to answer the request.

Other

Any other unsuccessful status.
