Direction and characteristics of gradient flow
Fields§
§step: usize§norm_delta: f64Signed change in gradient norm vs. the previous recorded step
(norm(step) - norm(step - 1); 0.0 on the first step, where
there is no previous value to compare against). Positive means the
norm grew, negative means it shrank. This is a real, computed
trend indicator – not a per-parameter gradient direction vector:
GradientHistory retains only reduced per-step statistics
(norm/mean/std), so a true high-dimensional direction is not
available here. Previously misnamed direction_vector and set to
vec![norm], which duplicated magnitude rather than carrying
any directional information.
