A syslog formatter that produces RFC 3164-conformant syslog messages.

Character encoding

Per the spec: “The code set traditionally and most often used has also been seven-bit ASCII in an eight-bit field”, but in practice UTF-8 seems to be accepted. Therefore, callers may ask instances to escape unicode, but by default they will not.
