Expand description

Find all references to a symbol

Search for all occurrences of a symbol (function, variable, class, etc.) across the codebase using text search followed by AST verification.

§Examples

# Find all references to 'analyze_dependencies'
tldr references analyze_dependencies .

# Include the definition in results
tldr references login . --include-definition

# Filter by reference kinds
tldr references process_data . --kinds call,import

# Output as text
tldr references MyClass . --format text

Fields§

§symbol: String

Symbol to find references for

§path: PathBuf

Path to search in (directory)

§output: Option<String>

Output format override (backwards compatibility, prefer global –format/-f)

§lang: Option<String>

Language filter: python, typescript, go, rust

§include_definition: bool

Include definition location in results

§kinds: Option<String>

Filter by reference kinds (comma-separated: call,read,write,import,type)

§scope: String

Search scope: local, file, workspace

§limit: usize

Maximum number of results to return

§context_lines: usize

Number of context lines before and after (not implemented yet)

§min_confidence: f64

Minimum confidence threshold (0.0-1.0). References below this are filtered out.
