Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Empty

The backend contains no vectors — search cannot proceed.

This is informational; callers may treat it as an empty result rather than a hard failure.

InvalidTopK

top_k was zero or would overflow internal heap sizing.

Adapter(Arc<str>)

An adapter-specific (e.g. pgvector) failure, with a human-readable message. Arc<str> avoids allocation on the hot path when the error is not inspected.
