Expand description

Reason why the background service stopped.

Structured stop reasons that distinguish between user-initiated stops, platform-imposed terminations, and natural task completion.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)§

This enum is marked as non-exhaustive
Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

UserStop

User called stopService().

§

AppStop

Application is shutting down gracefully.

§

PlatformTimeout

Platform killed the service due to a timeout (e.g. Android FGS timeout).

§

PlatformExpiration

Platform expired the background execution window (e.g. iOS BGTask).

§

NativeNotificationStop

User pressed stop on the native notification.

§

OsRestart

OS restarted the service after a reboot.

§

BootRecovery

Service recovered after device boot.

§

TaskCompleted

Service’s run() returned Ok(()) naturally.

§

Error

Service’s run() returned an error.

§

ProcessExit

The host process is exiting (e.g. iOS app backgrounded/terminated by the OS). Not a user stop: desired state and BGTask scheduling are preserved so recovery can resume background delivery (H2).
