Lifecycle state of the background service.

Exposed via the get-service-state command to provide fine-grained status beyond a simple boolean.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Idle

No service has been started, or the last run has fully cleaned up.

Initializing

init() is in progress (between Start and successful init()).

Running

init() succeeded; run() is executing.

Stopped

Service stopped (by stop(), natural completion, or error).
