Decoding and evaluation of satellite ephemeris
GNSS satellites broadcast ephemeris, values used to calculate their position in space over a period of time. Libswiftnav is able to decode the raw ephemeris data and then evaluate the ephemeris.
Broadcast ephemerides are only valid of a particular period of time, and the constellations will update the ephemerides regularly to make sure they are always valid when they need to be.
