Variants

WriteThrough

Durable tiers (L2, L3) first, then warm L1. Crash-safe. The default.

WriteBack

Warm L1 first (immediate hot availability), then persist durable tiers before returning. Crash-safe (no ack before the durable flush).

WriteAround

Durable tiers only; skip L1 (it fills lazily on read-through).
