How the caller requested batch processing.

Parser-agnostic replacement for clap’s Option<Option<PathBuf>> encoding of --batch [DIR] (num_args = 0..=1): Off is “flag absent”, Auto is “flag present without a value”, Directory is “flag present with a value”.
