Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Confirmed

A magic hit (or, for a magicless format, the extension) that the format’s own crate::format::ConfirmFn accepted — or that has no such function, which counts as accepting.

Unconfirmed

Only magic hits (or an extension) that the format’s function refused. Still resolved, because the lenient verbs must reach a damaged file’s reader; identify_strict refuses it.

ByName

No magic matched, and the extension named a format that has no confirmation function: a name, and nothing else (brotli, raw deflate).
