Rung

Enum Rung

Source
pub enum Rung {
    Exact,
    ForwardOnly,
    Spilled,
    Degraded,
}
Expand description

Which rung of the adaptive stream ladder a read landed on.

Variants§

§

Exact

Input was seekable. Authoritative index, full metadata.

§

ForwardOnly

Not seekable, parsed forward. Real data, approximate metadata.

§

Spilled

Spooled to memory/temp then read exactly. Costs disk, not accuracy.

§

Degraded

Best-effort salvage. Partial results by construction.

Implementations§

Source§

impl Rung

Source

pub fn is_authoritative(&self) -> bool

Whether the read used the format’s authoritative structures.

Note Spilled is authoritative: spilling trades disk for accuracy, and treating it as lossy would make --strict-fidelity reject exact reads.
