Also report each entry’s engine sequence in ScanEntry.seq. Unlike the point-read flags this is nearly free (the scan already walks internal keys and knows the version it settled on), but it stays opt-in so the field’s meaning is unambiguous: 0 means “not requested”, never “version zero”.
