Inter-cluster distance measure for agglomerative clustering.

Controls how the distance between two clusters is computed when deciding which pair to merge next.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Single

Minimum distance between any pair of points across two clusters.

Complete

Maximum distance between any pair of points across two clusters.

Average

Mean distance between all pairs of points across two clusters.

Ward

Minimize the total within-cluster variance after merging (most common).
