Expand description

Decode errors.

Variants§

§

Truncated

Bitstream ended unexpectedly.

§

MissingParameterSet

A required parameter set was missing before a slice.

§

Unsupported(&'static str)

A coding tool outside the implemented subset appeared in the stream.

§

Internal(&'static str)

A DECODER invariant did not hold – a helper thread died, a pooled buffer was missing, a picture was not where the state machine expected it. The stream is not necessarily at fault.

This variant exists so those conditions can be REPORTED rather than panicked. A decoder eats attacker-controlled bytes, so an unwind is a denial-of-service primitive; a Result the caller can handle is not. Every site that once carried an .expect() on an internal invariant returns this instead.
