Option chain entry for a specific exchange.

Represents available option series for an underlying on a particular exchange. Use IbkrHistoricalData::fetch_option_chain to retrieve this data.

Fields (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive structs could have additional fields added in future. Therefore, non-exhaustive structs cannot be constructed in external crates using the traditional Struct { .. } syntax; cannot be matched against without a wildcard ..; and struct update syntax will not work.

underlying_contract_id: i32

Contract ID of the underlying security.

trading_class: String

Option trading class (e.g., “AAPL” for standard, “AAPL7” for weekly).

multiplier: String

Option multiplier (e.g., “100” for standard equity options).

exchange: String

Exchange where this option series trades.

expirations: Vec<NaiveDate>

Available expiration dates.

strikes: Vec<Decimal>

Available strike prices.

Create OptionChainEntry from ibapi’s OptionChain.

Expirations that fail YYYYMMDD parsing and strike prices that fail f64→Decimal conversion (NaN/Infinity/IB sentinel values) are skipped.

pub fn to_descriptor(&self) -> Result<OptionChainDescriptor, Error>

Convert to unified OptionChainDescriptor.

Errors

Returns rust_decimal::Error if the multiplier string cannot be parsed as a decimal. Surfacing the parse error lets callers log the offending value instead of silently dropping the entry.

Notes

• exercise is None because IBKR does not return exercise style in chain data
• exchange is always ExchangeId::Ibkr (the IBKR-specific exchange string is not mapped)
