pub struct LseExportRange { /* private fields */ }Expand description
The date range an export covers.
start is inclusive, end is exclusive, and both are dates rather than timestamps —
the export endpoint is date-granular, and taking NaiveDate states that in the type instead
of silently discarding a caller’s time-of-day.
Implementations§
Source§impl LseExportRange
impl LseExportRange
Sourcepub fn new(start: NaiveDate, end: NaiveDate) -> Result<Self, LseError>
pub fn new(start: NaiveDate, end: NaiveDate) -> Result<Self, LseError>
Construct a range.
§Errors
Returns LseError::InvalidInput unless start < end. An empty or inverted range would
produce a valid, empty artifact at the cost of one export.
Sourcepub fn is_wholly_after(&self, today: NaiveDate) -> bool
pub fn is_wholly_after(&self, today: NaiveDate) -> bool
Whether this range starts more than one day after today, and so is guaranteed to hold no
data.
Separate from new, and pure, deliberately: “is this range in the future”
depends on when the question is asked, so a constructor answering it would bake one reading
of the clock into a value that outlives it — and would make the type untestable without one.
submit_export asks it at the point the
export is actually spent, which is the instant the answer matters.
§Why a whole day of slack
today is read in UTC while the caller may be thinking in local time, and the widest real
offset is UTC+14 — so a caller’s “today” can legitimately be UTC’s tomorrow, and never more.
Comparing against today + 1 therefore cannot reject a range someone meant, while still
catching the failure this exists for: a fat-fingered year, which misses by hundreds of days.
