TLS posture for the SMTP connection. Defaults to TlsMode::StartTls.

Variants

None

Plain TCP, no encryption. Only safe on localhost / internal networks. Servers conventionally listen on port 25.

StartTls

Plain TCP then upgrade via the STARTTLS verb. Default. Servers conventionally listen on port 587.

Implicit

TLS-from-byte-zero (SMTPS / “implicit TLS”). Servers conventionally listen on port 465.
