A compiled glob-based entry filter for archive processing.

Patterns are compiled once at construction time. At processing time passes() is called for each file entry path inside the archive.

§Pattern semantics

  • * matches any sequence of characters that does not contain /.
  • ** matches any sequence of characters including /.
  • ? matches any single character except /.
  • [abc] matches one of the listed characters.
  • A pattern ending with / is a directory prefix — it matches the directory itself and any path underneath it.

§Filter logic

  1. If --only patterns are present: the entry path must match at least one pattern, otherwise it is dropped.
  2. If --exclude patterns are present: if the entry path matches any pattern, it is dropped.
  3. Only file entries are filtered; directory / symlink entries always pass through to preserve archive structure.
