StorageLayout

Enum StorageLayout

Source
pub enum StorageLayout {
    Compact,
    Contiguous,
    Chunked,
    Virtual,
}
Expand description

A dataset’s storage layout class (read mode only) — H5Pget_layout’s four values.

Distinct from ChunkIndex, which names the structure a Chunked layout’s index uses; this only says which of the four storage classes the dataset was created with.

Variants§

§

Compact

Raw data stored inline in the object header.

§

Contiguous

Raw data in a single contiguous block — or, when the dataset also carries an external file list, in one or more blocks of an outside file instead (H5Dataset::external_files); the layout itself still reports Contiguous either way.

§

Chunked

Raw data split into fixed-size chunks, each independently allocated. H5Dataset::chunk_dims gives the chunk shape, H5Dataset::chunk_index the index structure.

§

Virtual

No raw data of its own: every element comes from another dataset, possibly in another file (H5Dataset::virtual_mappings).
