CoercionContext: where a cast happens. A cast is allowed in its own context and in each later one.

Variants

Implicit

An expression, such as the argument of a function.

Assignment

The value of INSERT and UPDATE.

Plpgsql

COERCION_PLPGSQL: the value of an assignment of PL/pgSQL. When no other cast exists, the output function of the source and the input function of the target make the cast.

Explicit

CAST(x AS type) and x::type.
