pub enum Marker {
Braille,
HalfBlock,
Block,
Bar,
Quadrant,
Sextant,
Octant,
Dot,
Ascii(char),
}Expand description
How a Canvas layer, or a Dataset, marks what it
draws.
On an ASCII-only console (see Charset) every marker but
Ascii draws one glyph a cell: # for the blocks, *
for the others.
Quadrant, Bar and
HalfBlock draw with Block Elements, which every
terminal font has. The sextants are in Symbols for Legacy Computing
(Unicode 13) and the octants in its supplement (Unicode 16): a font
without them shows a box or a blank in each cell, so check the fonts
your users have before choosing them.
Variants§
Braille
Braille dots, 2×4 a cell.
HalfBlock
Half blocks (▀, ▄, █), 1×2 a cell. A cell whose halves differ
in colour shows the upper colour on the lower one.
Block
A full block, █, a cell.
Bar
A lower half block, ▄, a cell.
Quadrant
Quarters of a cell (▘, ▚, ▙, ..), 2×2 a cell.
Sextant
Sixths of a cell (🬀 to 🬻), 2×3 a cell.
Octant
Eighths of a cell (U+1CD00 to U+1CDE5), 2×4 a cell: as fine as Braille, and solid.
Dot
A dot, •, a cell.
Ascii(char)
The given character, a cell. One that is not one cell wide, or not
printable ASCII on an ASCII console, becomes *.
