Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.

Copying

Started, not switched. The old root is the authority.

Switched

The switch is durable. The new root is the authority; participants may still have to reopen (RootCutover::recover).

Completed

Switched and every participant reopened.

Aborted

Failed before the switch. The old root is the authority; a rerun is allowed.
