pub enum DefectScope {
Process,
Request,
}Expand description
What a defect puts in doubt (ADR-0250).
The scope is a judgment made where the defect is raised, because that is the only place that knows it. A supervision sink receives a boxed source and can recover nothing from it, so a defect that does not carry its scope is indistinguishable from every other, and a process-level breaker fed by all of them counts requests as though they were process faults.
Variants§
Process
The process’s own state is in doubt: a contained panic, an omitted terminal audit, a lower-integrity failure. These feed the runtime’s defect breaker.
Request
This request could not be completed, and nothing follows about the next one. These never stop the runtime, however often a caller repeats them.
