Fire-and-forget. Writers return as soon as the WAL record is in the in-memory ring buffer — they do NOT wait for fsync. The group-commit background thread still flushes on its cadence, so committed-but-unflushed work is bounded by GroupCommitOptions::window_ms. A crash inside the window drops whatever wasn’t flushed — matches PG’s synchronous_commit=off contract.
