Variants

Own

None: portable: false, the default.

Path

The remote’s, when made in a worktree at the same path, and so this worktree’s own on another machine: portable: "path". For state that records where it was made, which CI runners checking out in one place can share and other checkouts cannot use.

Anywhere

Any other worktree’s and the remote’s: portable: true.
