Level

Enum Level

Source
#[non_exhaustive]
pub enum Level { Debug, Info, Notice, Warning, Error, Critical, Alert, Emergency, }
Expand description

A severity level on the log ladder.

Ordered lowest-severity first, matching the spec’s own ordering: debug through emergency. Ordering is what a client filter needs, and the spec defines the order, so there is nothing for this crate to choose.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)§

This enum is marked as non-exhaustive
Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.
§

Debug

Fine-grained detail, usually disabled.

§

Info

Ordinary operational detail.

§

Notice

Normal but significant events.

§

Warning

A condition that is not an error but deserves attention.

§

Error

A failure the peer should know about.

§

Critical

A failure requiring immediate action.

§

Alert

Action must be taken immediately.

§

Emergency

The system is unusable.

Implementations§

Source§

impl Level

Source

pub const ALL: [Self; 8]

Every level, lowest first — the order Ord uses.

Source

pub const fn as_str(self) -> &'static str

The level’s wire spelling, which is the variant name lowercased.

The spelling is derived rather than stored so the two cannot drift, and it is the same string Self::from_str accepts — the round trip is the contract a codec needs, and a stored copy would be a second answer to keep in step.

Source

pub fn parse(text: &str) -> Result<Self, LevelError>

Parses a level from its wire spelling.

§Errors

Returns LevelError for any other string, including the right one in the wrong case. A level is a closed set the spec enumerates, and accepting "Info" would mean emitting something no conforming peer has agreed to recognise.
