Minimum unindexed-fragment count below which optimize_table_indices skips the per-intent append/rebuild path; the brute-force fallback keeps queries correct while fragments accumulate. Default 4 trades a little query latency on cold fragments for far fewer remote index commits during high-rate ingest.
