The resolver’s decision: which existing edges to close, and the edge to open.

Echoes the row-level supersession model at the edge level — closing an edge records “a newer fact won,” a normal lifecycle event, not an extraction error. close carries the edges to close fully described (see ExistingEdge’s identity tuple), so the commit path can match each by its own properties; their valid_to is set to the new edge’s valid_from. open is the new edge to add as current.
