Enum Verb

Source
#[repr(u32)]
pub enum Verb { Install = 0, Remove = 1, Run = 3, Build = 4, Test = 5, Update = 2, Exec = 6, }
Expand description

The verbs pmpx recognizes. A closed set – this is all the command line has.

The numbers correspond one-to-one with the PMPX_VERB_* constants, and the order must not change: a different numbering is an ABI break, and the surface snapshot in the ABI crate records it.

Variants§

§

Install = 0

Install dependencies. No argument = install everything in the lockfile, with arguments = add.

§

Remove = 1

Remove dependencies.

§

Run = 3

Run a script / target.

§

Build = 4

Build.

§

Test = 5

Test.

§

Update = 2

Update dependencies.

§

Exec = 6

Escape hatch: run an arbitrary command. Plugins that do not support it should report an error explicitly, see PackageManager::command.

Implementations§

Source§

impl Verb

Source

pub const ALL: &'static [Verb]

All verbs, in numbering order.

Source

pub const fn to_abi(self) -> u32

Convert to the number used across the boundary.

Source

pub const fn from_abi(n: u32) -> Option<Verb>

Reconstruct from a cross-boundary number.

None means “a verb this build does not know”, and the shell answers that with PMPX_ERR_UNSUPPORTED_VERB rather than “invalid arguments”: that is what keeps a new verb additive, because it leaves the host’s degradation path open for exec.

Source

pub const fn as_str(self) -> &'static str

The word written on the command line.
