Environment

Struct Environment

Source
pub struct Environment(/* private fields */);
Expand description

The variables a process was started with, by name.

The command line has a shell’s. An app the system started has launchd’s, which name the home and the login and little else, unless somebody set more with launchctl setenv; whatever is there is read the way the command line reads it.

Implementations§

Source§

impl Environment

Source

pub fn of_this_process() -> Environment

This process’s own.

Source

pub fn home(&self) -> PathBuf

The person’s home: HOME, or, where it is unset, the account’s own, as the passwd database names it and Foundation finds it for an app. Set, even empty, it is what the person said, and an empty or relative one is refused where it is used ([crate::home::check_absolute]), never taken to be the folder Pitboard runs in.

Source

pub fn pitboard_home(&self) -> PathBuf

Pitboard’s own directory: PITBOARD_HOME, or the system’s default for Environment::home, .pitboard there on macOS and Linux. The path as the environment gives it, with any ., .. or trailing / it holds.
