Embedding provider configuration (RFC-012).

Controls which embedding model is used for semantic search. When provider = "api", uses an OpenAI-compatible remote embedding endpoint. When provider = "gguf" and the embedding-gguf feature is enabled on aarch64, uses EmbeddingGemma-300m locally. Otherwise falls back to TF-IDF (sparse vectors; no sqlite-vec KNN).

Fields

provider: String

Embedding provider: “tfidf” (default), “gguf”, or “api”.

dimension: usize

Matryoshka dimension: 128, 256, 512, or 768 (gguf). For “api”, defaults to the model’s known dimensionality (text-embedding-3-small=1536, text-embedding-3-large=3072).

model_ttl_secs: u64

Model TTL in seconds. Unloaded after this duration of inactivity. Only used when provider = “gguf”.

api_endpoint: String

API endpoint URL (provider = “api”). E.g. https://api.openai.com/v1/embeddings.

api_key: String

API bearer key (provider = “api”). Empty → inherit from active LLM provider’s api_key at boot.

api_model: String

Embedding model name (provider = “api”). E.g. text-embedding-3-small.
