Integer width of the raw, channel-major decode stream a conformant
codec writes (and that reshape_channel_major reads back).
EEG digital ADC samples are 16-bit, but a lossless codec round-tripping
through wider intermediate domains (e.g. lml’s int32 output) may emit
a wider stream; the dtype is declared per codec in its manifest.
