How a table’s rows are ordered and resumed across changesets.

Variants

UpdatedAt

Mutable rows: the cursor is an opaque JSON tuple containing (updated_at, pk…). Legacy bare updated_at cursors remain readable; rows that never got a version are never exported. Including the primary key prevents a row created with the same timestamp as the last acknowledged row from being skipped forever.

Tuple(&'static [&'static str])

Append-only rows: cursor is a (col1, col2) row-value tuple (e.g. messages (created_at, id)), encoded as "a|b".

AutoId

Append-only rows whose cursor is their device-local AUTOINCREMENT id (citations, sync_tombstones). The id rides along in the row JSON for cursor bookkeeping but is never applied.

None

No cursor of its own; rows travel attached to a parent row (swarm_personas → sessions).
