Wire-facing job state. Mirrors the actual lifecycle:

• queued — accepted by submit(), sitting in the channel awaiting a dispatcher decision OR the dispatcher is mid-retry across workers.
• running — handed off to a GPU worker thread; flipping happens when the worker pulls the job off its channel and starts loading / inferring.
